Player of the Year Program

 

The WMGC Player of the Year program is being introduced for the first time in 2005.  The concept behind this program is to reward members for achievement in two key areas:

 

  1. Participation
  2. Performance

 

The WMGC Player of the year will be awarded for each season and announced at the Fall Banquet.  Winners will receive a plaque with their name, the award name and the season engraved.  Winners will also be logged in the back of the membership directory beginning with the 2005 season. Every tournament playing member is eligible.

 

Winners will be determined by a point system (see chart below).  Points are earned in three ways: 

 

  1. Participating in an event (1 point for each event played, except Club Championship & 2 Day events which are worth 2 points)
  2. Placing in an event (varies by place, first place earns the most points, followed by second, third, etc. awarded for each flight).  Place values will vary by tournament.  Values will be determined each season by the board and published in the book and on the web site.
  3. Participating in a majority of events.

 

To earn maximum points, a player should enter as many tournaments as possible.  Placing in the 1, 2, 3 or 4 (if applicable) slot of a tournament earns additional points.  At the end of the year, the board will total up tournaments played for each player in the club.  Any player who has played in all events will earn a bonus of 5 additional points.  Any player that played in 2/3’s of the events will earn a 2 point bonus.
