Wellshire Men’s Golf Club Information Guide

Tournament Entry - Entry forms for each tournament are found in the Entry Form Book or at the web site (www.wellshire.com).
Completed entry forms along with payment of the tournament fees including both the tournament cost and skins should be sent to:

       Jerry Davis
       6650 E. Arizona Ave., #132
       Denver, CO  80224

The due date for entry is indicated on the form. Generally, it is 2 weeks prior to the tournament. Since the tournaments usually are
2 weeks apart, a player may enter the next tournament by submitting by hand to Ben Zapanta, the Tournament Director, the entry
form and payment on the day of the previous tournament. Please avoid telephone entries, except as stated below.

Late Tournament EntryOnce the entry deadline as past, it is still possible to enter the tournament.  However, participation is not
guaranteed. Frequently, tournament spots are available to complete foursomes, cover cancellations, or to add completed foursomes.
This waiting list is based on a first come, first listed basis. In order to get on the waiting list, please contact Jerry Davis or Ben Zapanta,
the Tournament Director. It should be noted that team events and away tournaments are less conducive to late entries. Please do not
use this as a normal method to enter the tournaments. Also, if the volume of post deadline calls becomes too burdensome, this privilege
  may be cancelled.

CancellationIf after entering a tournament, and it becomes necessary to cancel, please contact Jerry Davis or Ben Zapanta, the
Tournament Director, as soon as possible. The tournament fees will be refunded or credited to another tournament if a replacement
player (Men’s Club members only) is found on the waiting list or otherwise. Please note that entrants who do not play forfeit their
  tournament entry fees.

Tee TimesWellshire tournament tee times are available at least 2 or 3 days prior to each tournament. The tee times can be found
on the web site, posted on the Men’s Club bulletin board at Wellshire, or by calling the Wellshire Pro Shop at (303) 757-1352.
Please do not call the Wellshire Starter. For away tournaments, the tee times can be found on the web site and posted on the Men’s
Club bulletin board at Wellshire. Also, in most cases away tournament tee times can be obtained by calling the particular course’s
Pro Shop or Starter. Please do not call the Wellshire Pro Shop for away tournament tee times.

Weather ProblemsIf it appears that the tournament cannot start because of inclement weather, please contact the Starter or
Pro Shop on the day of the tournament. In general, every effort is made to play the tournament since it is very difficult to reschedule.
If the last tournament is called off because of bad weather, the tournament will be cancelled and all tournament fees will be refunded.
During the tournament, the USGA rules govern the suspension of play. Please note that most courses, including Wellshire, do not
use a lightning warning system. If a tournament has started, but is incomplete because of bad weather, prizes will be awarded based
on the last completed hole within each flight.

Tournament Results – Tournament results are available on the web site.   Also, the results are posted on the Men’s Club bulletin
board at Wellshire within a few days after the tournament. Additionally, the results are sent out throughout the year as attachments
  to the newsletters.

Posting Tournament Scores – Jerry Davis, the Handicap Director, posts all Wellshire and away tournament scores, except match
play rounds. Players should not post tournament scores since it would result in a double posting. All match play rounds should be
posted by the player and listed as a “tournament” score.

Tournament PrizesIn general, prizes are paid to 25 percent of the tournament field according to flight. In most tournaments low
gross winners are paid, but players cannot win both gross and net divisions. Tournament prizes usually are paid in gift certificates to
the Wellshire Golf Shop. In most cases, first place ties will be decided by a card playoff, and all other ties will be split. Day money,
paid for the 2 two-day tournaments, and match play winners are awarded cash. Away tournaments are usually paid in gift certificates
at the particular course. If the gift certificate amounts are low, the away tournament prizes may include a combination of cash and gift
certificates. Closest to the pin prizes are awarded for every par 3 in every tournament. These are $25 in cash, except for # 9 at Wellshire.
The Wellshire Pro Shop provides a $25 gift certificate to their Golf Shop for closest to # 9 pin for all Wellshire tournaments.
Steve Burnite, the Treasurer, pays the closest to the pin cash winnings during the year.

Gift Certificates – Gift certificates at the Wellshire Golf Shop are not actually distributed to the winners. The prizes are paid in the
aggregate to the Golf Shop and are usually available within a few days after the tournament. The Golf Shop maintains a ledger for each
Men’s Club member. If you do not remember the amount you have won, please ask a Pro Shop staff member to check the ledger.
The certificates can be used for merchandise. The gift certificates cannot be used for green fees, carts, tournament fees or membership dues.   The gift certificates must be redeemed by November 30th – there are no carryovers to next year. If there is a question concerning the  amounts, please contact Steve Burnite, the Treasurer.

SkinsEach tournament has an optional skins game at a cost of $5 per division per day. Cash prizes, based on the size of the pot,
are awarded to the participating player with the lowest score on a particular hole. Within the participating pool, one tie is equal to all tie.
The player enters the game by checking the appropriate area on the entry form and paying the appropriate amount. The net division is
based on handicap and is played within the player’s flight. If there are several flights, the net division may be grouped into multiple flight
games. The gross division is played without accounting for handicap and is played throughout the entire field. A player may enter both
the net and gross divisions. The skins game may be restricted to certain holes such as even holes, or odd holes. In general, this increases
the amount of winnings while reducing the number of winners. Steve Burnite, the Treasurer, pays the skins throughout the year.

TrophiesEach winner of each flight of each tournament is entitled to a trophy, which is awarded at the Fall Banquet. In order to
avoid unwanted trophies, each winner must indicate to Jerry Davis, or to Steve Burnite, the Treasurer, whether a trophy is wanted.
Club championship and match play trophies automatically will be made and awarded. If you want a trophy and cannot attend the
Fall Banquet, please contact Jerry Davis, or Kelly Purser, the President, to make arrangements to receive the trophy.

BanquetsThere are 2 banquets held at the Wellshire Inn. The Spring Banquet, which is held on the Friday before the ABCD
Scramble tournament, and the Fall Banquet, which is held on the first Saturday in November.
Although the cost is included in the
annual dues, please send in the RSVP as indicated in the Entry Form Book so that a number of participants can be determined.
Attendees who did not respond may be excluded from the dinner if there is insufficient room or food. Because of the high costs
involved, only Men’s Club members are invited to the banquets. The Spring Banquet includes the ABCD Scramble Calcutta.
The Fall Banquet includes the awarding of the trophies and the election of Board members.

CalcuttaPrior to the ABCD Scramble and the ABCD Best Ball tournaments, a Calcutta is held whereby the various teams are
sold to the highest bidder. Teams may repurchase ½ of their team at the time of the auction. The Calcutta payout is 50 percent of
the pot to first, 30 percent to second, and 20 percent to third. All ties are split. The ABCD Scramble Calcutta is held at the Spring
Banquet. The ABCD Best Ball Calcutta is held at the Wellshire Pub on the Friday evening before the tournament. Since payment is
required at the time of the auction, participants must bring cash or checks, and teams need to have a representative at the auction if
they wish to participate.  Specific guidelines for the Calcutta will be available at the time of the auction.

Slow Play – Players should play “ready golf.” Each player is collectively and individually responsible to keep up with the group in
front of your foursome. Although the Men’s Club cannot play faster than the general public’s last group before our tournaments, it
is important not to lag within the parameters of our tournament groups.   As a result, each foursome shall have their scorecard time
recorded within 16 minutes of the group finishing in front of them. Scorecards are timed by Ben Zapanta, the Tournament Director,
at the scoring table after the 18th hole has been completed.   Failure to meet the 16 minute rule will result in an automatic 2 stroke
penalty assessed against each member of the foursome.

Equipment – Since the Men’s Club plays its tournament pursuant to the USGA rules, with a couple of modifications, illegal clubs,
especially nonconforming drivers, are not allowed. If used during a Men’s Club tournament or match play game, the player will
  be disqualified.

Denver Cup Tournament – The Men’s Club annually participates in the Denver Cup. This is a 2-day tournament among the Men’s
Clubs at the various Denver public golf courses held on a rotational basis during September. Each club provides 16 players to the
team based on various handicap divisions. Our team is selected by the Board based on the best players within each handicap division.
Each team member must have played in at least 3 Men’s Club tournaments during the year. The Men’s Club pays for the greens fees
for the team. Team members pay, and must reimburse the Men’s Club, for the various prize pools such as closest to the pin, skins,
winnings with the division, etc. (usually about $30).

  Hole-in-One Fund – A $500 prize is awarded for any hole-in-one made during a Men’s Club tournament or during a Men’s Club
match play game. The award is paid at the end of the year, and if there are multiple holes-in-one, the prize will be split.

Honorary Member StatusHonorary members are not required to pay annual dues. Honorary status is determined by adding the
Men’s Club member’s age and the number of years participating in the Men’s Club.   When the combined number is equal to 90 or
above, honorary status is awarded. One additional condition is that the Men’s Club member must have served on the Board of Directors.
